And just like that, summer is over. 🍃
This August, I made a commitment to abundance — not through overwork or output, but through rest, exploration, and intentional presence.
Grenada, the Spice Island, became my sanctuary. Known as the world’s second-largest producer of nutmeg, Grenada is lush, vibrant, and unapologetically alive. Each day by the water felt restorative, and an agricultural tour (not my usual itinerary!) revealed an undeniable truth:
🌿 Flora and fauna not only coexist, they thrive by supporting one another’s growth.
That image became my metaphor for August: the beauty of co-existence, the abundance that comes from interdependence, and the courage to rest without guilt.
🌱 Lessons in Rest and Renewal
I designated August as my month of intentional rest. Now, “quiet” might be a stretch — it was also exploration, laughter, and yes, frolicking. I danced, I played, and I left space for spontaneity.
The result? I returned not completely physically rested, but mentally renewed. That kind of renewal that brings clarity and assurance about your next steps.
I am often described as “one of the most productive individuals” people know. But this summer, I took off my productivity cape. I embraced my perfect imperfection. I reminded myself: I am enough. Just Patrice.
✨ Resources that shaped me:

Sacred Rest — Redefining rest as resistance.
The Self-Love Mindset — Honouring your power.
The Surrender Experiment - It appears, that Surrendering is a lesson I keep on having to learn over and over again.
💎 The Value of Things
This summer wasn’t only about joy and renewal — it also brought moments of loss and disappointment. The kind that forces you to pause, reflect, and ask yourself:
What does success look like for you?
Loss has a way of shaking our foundations. But it also offers an invitation: to reground yourself in truth, strip away the noise, and move forward with clarity.
So often, our value is measured by titles, salaries, applause, likes. Yet these are fragile markers, easily taken away.
Real abundance comes when you:
Know your worth and refuse to settle.
Collect your receipts — the evidence of your brilliance.
Acknowledge your gifts and the way you serve.
Consider how you love — not just romantically, but in friendships, family, and community.
Anchoring yourself here changes everything. You negotiate differently. You lead differently. You love differently.
💌 The Summer of Love
I declared this my Summer of Love. And it delivered:
Love of the journey — embracing the twists of entrepreneurship and leadership.
Love of people — gratitude for those walking alongside me.
Love of place — London came alive in magical ways.
Love of lessons — even disappointments, which deepened resilience.
Love of surrender — loosening my grip on outcomes.
Love of roots — reconnecting with the Caribbean more deeply than ever.
Love isn’t passive. It’s active, resilient, and at times, disruptive. It’s a way of moving through life with openness, gratitude, and courage.
I attended Esther’s conference back in April, and I have been a fan of her’s since I discovered her just before the pandemic. Honestly, such a powerful peek into the therapy room; I promise you will learn a lot about relationships and, most importantly, about yourself.
This year, I have been paying closer attention to the depth of my relationships.
Quality over quantity, always.

Drawing clearer distinctions between “work associates”, “friends”, and the true “bona fide” crew. A simple test? Ask yourself: who would I actually play this game with?
The answer will tell you exactly which box they belong in. You can thank me later.
🌺 The Integrated Self
This month, I also played “Mas” internationally for the fourth time. Ten years ago, I would have laughed if you told me I’d ever don a full Carnival costume (if you can call it that). But Carnival has taught me something profound about freedom: ripping up the quiet rulebook I once wrote for myself and releasing the restrictions that kept me playing small.
For me, Carnival is less about feathers and music, and more about unveiling.

Uncovering. Her.
Unveiling the most integrated version of Patrice.
Because here’s the truth: I am layered. I am complex. Those closest to me have always embraced that, but it has taken me years to do the same.
Over recent seasons, I have been doing the deep work of:
Allowing my divine feminine to flow as she should.
Releasing the heaviness I’ve carried.
Welcoming in softness.
Heeding the firm message I keep receiving:
You are enough. Allow yourself to just be.
And here’s the leadership connection: too often, leaders show up compartmentalised. They wear the corporate mask, silence parts of their identity, and operate from one narrow dimension of self. But true influence and innovation come from integration.
When you bring all parts of yourself — your lived experience, your values, your cultural context, your vulnerability — you lead with authenticity and courage.
This idea of the Integrated Self is something I’ll be returning to later this year, because I believe it is the next frontier of leadership. Integration is where authenticity and impact meet.
✨ Reflection Prompt: Where in your life or leadership are you still compartmentalising parts of yourself — and what might become possible if you allowed those pieces to integrate?
🎒 September Theme: Back to Work, Back to Self
September always carries that “back to school” energy. Fresh notebooks, sharpened pencils, a clean slate. Even as adults, that rhythm remains after the summer holidays.
But this season, it’s not about workplace rules — it’s about self-leadership.
Ask yourself:
What will you do differently as you step back into work?
What lessons from summer are you carrying forward?
How will you lead yourself differently before you lead others?
Because leadership always starts at the personal level. If you are not aligned, clear, and intentional, you cannot expect your team or organisation to be.
✏️ The Back-to-WorkReset for Leaders
Here are some prompts I will be sharing with my clients this September:
Rewrite the schedule — what on your calendar doesn’t deserve to be there? What’s missing that would fuel your growth?
What’s the growth — what skill or habit will you commit to learning this season?
Check your fit — not literal clothes, but how you’re showing up. Are you wearing an outdated version of yourself?
Mark your own work — are you measuring progress by external applause or internal alignment?
Accountability Conference — who holds you accountable? Who are you learning from, and who are you pouring into? (Reverse Mentoring has taught me that learning is never one-way.)

Final Words
Just like Grenada’s flora and fauna — different species thriving together — we too can flourish in our imperfections.
September is not just about returning to work. It is about returning to yourself.
Here’s to leading with clarity, urgency, and enoughness.

A Reminder: New Partnership Announcement
🗣️ One of the biggest challenges facing organisations right now- Internal Comms. And what to do post-Meta Workplace, which closed this month.
Enter: Humand 💬
I used to be a Meta Workplace evangelist and super user when I led the Employee Engagement workstream for the Commercial Leadership Team at Virgin Atlantic.
On stage talking about Engagement at Virgin Atlantic with the Institute of Travel Management in Istanbul
Since then, I’ve explored the options… and Humand impressed me deeply with its functionality, intuitive UX and people-first design. I have spent some time with the team, and I’m super impressed with their offering and therefore proud to announce a new partnership.
If internal communication is holding your organisation back, set up a call with them using my link below, you won’t be disappointed.
