November, The month I said Yes

The dance between structure and flow

If you remember, in October, I made a commitment to protect my time and build my resilience 🛡️✨. Well, in November, it seems I did the opposite and said yes to a lot of things (much to my Oura ring's dismay 😅).

As I progress through this entrepreneurial journey, the part I find most challenging is the dance between structure and flow.

I thrive on structure because it provides consistency, which nurtures discipline. And as we know, discipline equals results 💪🏾. It’s a formula that works seamlessly in the corporate world. But in business, where you're running the show, it can take a long time before the seeds you've planted begin to sprout 🌱 and it’s those daily habits that support you to achieve your dreams.

However, a rigid structure doesn't always allow room for spontaneity or opportunity 🌟. This month taught me some important lessons about finding balance between the two.

Space for Magic

In spring, I decided to focus on building the Caribbean arm of my business 🌍. After spending time in Barbados last year with the Chamber of Commerce and planting seeds in Jamaica earlier this year, I knew presence was essential. Deals often don’t happen without physically being there 🤝🏾.

I planned to spend November working from Jamaica, but a few personal matters forced me to postpone. This left me with a freer schedule than anticipated—in my words, “space for magic.” 🪄

Here’s what I did with it:

• A spontaneous trip to the Cayman Islands for the launch of Jawara Alleyne’s stunning collection and scoping out what establishing Eminere there could look like…

• Reconnected with new and old friends.

• Consistently working out 🏋🏾‍♀️ and took my most ice baths ever in a month ❄️.

• Curated a workshop in record time 📋⚡and now have a very happy new client.

Humbling feedback from my new client - Rolls Royce

• This week, I started the Accenture Diverse Supplier Development Programme in partnership with Henley Business School. Eminere is just one of ten businesses selected, and I am already learning so much.

Challenges I Faced ⏳

Reprioritisation: Constantly adjusting plans for work or opportunities often means friends and family get the short straw 🤷🏾‍♀️. While I’m grateful for the spaces I’ve been invited into, the balance is hard to manage.

• Commitments: I had to cancel commitments in order to “be spontaneous”, coaching circle sessions, a volunteering weekend, and a mentoring day at Soho Works—very last-minute decisions 😬. I had to own my choices, even though they felt out of alignment with my usual style.

Sleep: Personal challenges, including a family bereavement, unsettled me 💤💔. My sleep scores were woeful this month 📉.

Looking Forward 🎯

I use December to reflect and plan for the new year ✍🏾📅. Below is the workbook that I use to review my year, identifying wins 🏆, losses, and, most importantly, lessons learned. Take a few moments during this festive period to reflect and prepare for 2025.

This quote makes me think - “How courageous am I really willing to be in 2025?”

Some Resources

Here are two episodes that might spark some inspiration as you look to curate your next chapter intentionally:

🎧Tony Robbins & Eckhart Tolle on Finding Your Identity, Meaning & Purpose in Life. A really helpful one to dive into before you focus on what you want your 2025 to look like.

🎙️ Adam Grant & Malcolm Gladwell on the importance of self-correction -I am always determined to turn my losses into lessons, so join me in understanding how not to take the mistakes of 2024 into 2025.

Books

Two books that have really helped me to build my self-awareness most importantly, my resilience are Emotional Agility - Susan David and Mindset - Carel Dweck

Ella Mai blessed us with a treat this month, dropping her latest EP 🎶. Hearts on Deck is my favourite on the mix - enjoy!

Parting Question: What structure do you need to put in place in December that is going to set you up for success in 2025?
